Maintained and supported UNIX system hardware and software including Sun, HP-UX, and IBM systems. Duties include the initial installation of systems, installation and configuration of COTS products, and installation and configuration of scientific applications for support of the scientific program at the lab. Daily duties included the management and troubleshooting of standard UNIX environment software and protocols, SCSI devices, printers, X-terminals, and network equipment. Familiarity and working knowledge of personal computing systems, electronic mail, WWW, NetNews and many other user applications.

As a Field Support Engineer, responsibilities included providing expert technical support for military exercises at sites throughout the world ashore and afloat. Skills included SVR4 & BSD UNIX, c-shell-scripting networking to include design, maintenance & troubleshooting of Ethernet-TCP/IP-X.25 networks, and RDBS to include SQL scripting & troubleshooting. Additionally provided technical support for TBM (Theater Battle Management) Ops/Intel courses throughout the world while maintaining proficiency on new & upgraded versions of TBM software. Responsibilities as an instructor included writing & updating material for SAIC’s System Administrator Training Course for TBM systems throughout the world. Course material covered basic UNIX, Networking, RDBMS/SQL, and additional system specific concepts. Taught System Administrator coursesto over 300 students, involving extensive travel. Course development also included syllabi, outlines, lesson plans and slides to support.
