Growing up in the heart of a small factory town nestled in the Appalachian Mountains instilled in me a profound appreciation for community spirit and economic resilience. My journey has been dedicated to fostering environments where all of our neighbors can thrive and contribute meaningfully.I bring a wealth of experience in policy implementation and community development, most recently serving as the Policy Director for the Office of CT State Treasurer, where I championed implementation of groundbreaking initiatives like the 'Baby Bonds' wealth-building program. My passion for equitable solutions led me to advance 'cradle-to-career' initiatives, securing vital funding and collaborating with esteemed leaders such as US Education Secretary Miguel Cardona.Prior to these roles, I led transformative economic growth efforts at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston's Working Cities Challenge CT, empowering communities to develop and advance solutions that promote economic well-being for our all. From Meriden to Hartford, I've been deeply involved in grassroots movements, driving tangible change like expanding access to education and revitalizing public housing.Beyond my professional endeavors, I'm an avid writer and adventurer, having authored two books (‘People’s History: The Story of Hartford Areas Rally Together’, and “Charter Oak: The Life, Death and Rebirth of a Low Income Public Housing Project’) and embarked on epic journeys like hiking the length of the Appalachian Trail and cycling coast-to-coast (twice!). I hold a quirky Guinness World Record - for simultaneous potato chip eating at a NY Mets game (along with 35,000 others). I'm also a proud and devoted father and partner, sharing life's joys with my wonderful family and wife in Hamden, CT.
