As a research engineer in PSDL, my work revolved primarly around the structural design of flexure-bearing prototypes and flexure-bearing based motion stages. The challenges of this role pertained mostly to balancing the very tight design budget intrinsic to a high performance motion stage. These challenges pushed me to develop design tools and strategies in Excel, Ansys Workbench, etc. in order to help meet that budget. As a part of this role I also had the opportunity to lead the prototyping of a flexure-bearing concept from conception which pushed my planning, organization, and communication skills to the utmost.

As a research assistant at PSDL my work focused on the electrical systems of a flexure-bearing motion stage. I spent considerable time evaluating the landscape of available linear servo amplifiers for their use in the precision motion system. I followed that up by building an Excel-based to that would calculate and plot actuators' performances for arbitrary motion trajectories.

For this role I staffed the tool crib of the undergraduate machine shop in the College of Engineering. The primary responsibilities of this role were checking tools and machines out to students as well as running waterjet jobs for them. Other activities included advising students on their machining and operating 3D printers.
