The Microsoft SharePoint 2013 solution has been identified as our key system for underpinning and delivering our information management transformation programme at Dorset County Council. Our vision is to deliver a single managed environment where information is managed, is accessible, easily understood, trusted and made available at any time and from any device. Use of SharePoint collaboration tools will further enhance the way find and share information with colleagues and partners in a secure and efficient way.The business and information analyst function is to:  Lead and organise information discovery workshops (with 300 diverse teams in the authority);  Design and build SharePoint sites to meet the needs of these teams. This includes developing team, community, external partnership and project sites;  Design and build document and digital asset libraries;  Introduce collaboration functionality to help break down organisational silos;  Apply information taxonomies and metadata standards to improve searchability;  Improve our communication by helping to design and implement a new intranet using SharePoint 2013 that will integrate with our SharePoint team sites;  Apply information management principles to the RecordPoint solution that is integrated with SharePoint to deliver information lifecycle management;  Apply information management principles to the Colligo solution that will integrate our Outlook and SharePoint applications and deliver information lifecycle management to our email solution;The business analysts are also developing information governance standards for each of the SharePoint Services as well as the overall information management governance framework for the county council

In April 2009 I was appointed the Corporate Information Manager for DCC to lead and co-ordinate the development of a whole-authority approach to the corporate information and Knowledge management agenda, ensuring all key stakeholders across the county council and partners are engaged in defining and delivering the information vision. I still manage the EDRM system but have now been successful in establishing a major new information and knowledge management transformation project using Microsoft SharePoint 2013 as the key collaboration, information and knowledge management tool. This is underpinning an exciting business transformation programme. I also give regional, national and European lectures on EDRM and Information Management.

In charge of the day to day running of the Records Management Unit and the 3 members of staff dealing with the transfer retrieval and destruction processes for authority’s paper records. I also have been leading the records management element of the EDRM project which has been described as best practice by the Records Advisory Service for The National Archive, London and the project has won one and been short-listed for a further two industry awards. I was involved in deploying the system corporately, developing a corporate file plan, managing 2 EDRM staff, implementing retention policies, defining metadata requirements, and giving papers on EDRM at numerous National and European events such as the CIMTECH-TNA Conference, Ark Conferences, Open Text European Summits and the Catalan Municipal Archive Bi-annual Conference, Barcelona.
