About David Reeve

Where the Leaves Fall, which I co-created and edited, ran for 16 issues from 2019 to 2024. The magazine considered local and global experiences and knowledge as a pathway to healing our relationship with nature, with culture, with community and with our home, the Earth. It offered a critique of the prevailing narratives that shape our lives: challenging oppressive systems, revitalising cultural narratives, unveiling obscured histories, embracing paradigm shifts, while fostering transformation, imaginative realities, community solidarity, collective liberation and affection. We hope this magazine envisioned alternative paths, emphasising interconnectedness, recognising the wisdom of marginalised communities and advocating for transformative actions and expansive solutions rooted in cultural, social and environmental consciousness. Over the years we produced a number of events including the Meeting at the River event series for which we partnered with Selvagem, Synchronicity Earth, Flourish Diversity and OmVed Gardens. Check out the inspirational Wild Arrows films if you haven't already.I am also an editor and filmmaker and have been producing, directing, shooting, and editing various trailers, promos and other video projects for clients including BBC, C4, ITV, Arrow Films, Lionsgate, BFI, Warner Bros Television, Tinopolis, Sothebys, The Royal Academy, V&A, MS Society, ActionAid and many more. You can find some of my work here: villageraw.com/davidreeveI have collaborated with artists, musicians, NGOs, and cultural organisations to tell stories that are engaging, inspiring, and impactful. Some of my films include Minute Bodies with UK band Tindersticks, Y/our Music, which won Best International Feature at Muvi Lisboa, and Passing Through, an experimental 360 documentary. I am passionate about exploring possibilities and change in how we live our lives through the power of visual media. On a local level I also co-edit Village Raw - a community culture magazine that captures the creative essence of a hyperlocal north London area. It's a print and digital magazine that also produces community events.

Listed skills include Film, Documentaries, Feature Films, Television, and 54 others.

Where the Leaves Fall is a magazine that considers local and global experiences and knowledge as a pathway to healing our relationship with nature, with culture, with community and with our home, the Earth. It offers a critique of prevailing narratives that shape our lives: challenging oppressive systems, revitalising cultural narratives, unveiling obscured histories, embracing paradigm shifts, while fostering transformation, imaginative realities, community solidarity, collective liberation and affection. As we seek to rethink and repair our relationship with our home, the Earth, we hope this magazine envisions alternative paths, emphasising interconnectedness, recognising the wisdom of marginalised communities and advocating for transformative actions and expansive solutions rooted in cultural, social and environmental consciousness. Over the magazine's life I commissioned and curated over 200 features and photography stories from over 300 global contributors, ensuring diverse representation and engaging storytelling. Managed the magazine team, and oversaw the production of three websites as we took the content online. In a global first, for #12 we gave over full editorial control and collaborated with Indigenous activist Txai Suruí. We conceived The Meeting at the River event series, engaging UK educators and over time produced over 30 other events.

Co-produced/directed and edited this feature length documentary which scored 8.2 on IMDB, won 'Best International Feature' at Muvi Lisboa, and was nominated for Best Documentary in Thailand's version of the Oscars - The National Thai Film Awards. The film had its world premiere at Busan International Film Festival and it’s North American premiere at SXSW.“Y/OUR MUSIC immerses itself in the world of Thai musical expressions, from traditional music to labour songs and classical pop to urban indie music, spanning different locales and generations. As nine musicians display their musical expression, the rural or urban environments that influenced their sound are also explored. The hands that play traditional instruments amid the red dust clouds, the work songs being hummed in front of grains awaiting harvest, and the indie music born out of concrete basements create a melodious ecosystem. The film creates a sensory journey through some of the sounds and environments that encapsulate the music, from the noisy polluted streets of Bangkok to the calm, arid fields of Isan. While inhabiting different worlds, the musicians are linked by the same passion to bring their artistic aspirations to the fore and survive outside the pop mainstream.” - Joe Cummings
