Where the Rivers Meet

Previously Where the Leaves Fall (see below), Where the Rivers Meet is an alliance of care and wild imagination. While many of us live within the cultivated and imagined framework of binary existences this group would be an attempt to create a collective that is inspired by the concepts of convergence, pluriversality and the blurring of the lines between the human and the more-than-human. This can be an appreciation of our skin not just as a container, but also a portal that seeps into our planet, and allows the planet to seep into us. This cyclical and multi-dimensional merging suggests a counternarrative to the vertical, the linear – the monolithic. Brazilian quilombola leader and intellectual Nêgo Bispo says: “a river does not stop being a river because it converges with another river. On the contrary: it becomes itself and other rivers, it becomes stronger. When we are confluencing, we don't stop being us, we become us and other people - we last longer. Confluence is a force that yields, that increases, that expands.” Where the Rivers Meet is a collective effort to foster collaboration and creativity in the face of the local and global challenges that separate us. We all have our own projects and aims, and these should continue, and Where the Rivers Meet will allow for numerous other projects, events, happenings, exhibitions, audio and video productions, discussions, publications etc. etc. to happen. --- Where the Leaves Fall was a magazine exploring humankind’s connection with nature through the intersection between social justice and the environment, art, science, culture, philosophy and food.
