A senior public sector manager in an assets and property based environment, I provide strategic leadership to an in-house multi-professional team delivering asset and estate management as well as a large capital construction programme and repairs & maintenance programme to time, cost and quality.I am passionate about architecture and good design in our communities which I strongly believe can raise the quality of people’s lives by creating good, distinctive ‘places’ of character and integrity. With a command of a wide range of professional and technical skills, I provide high level advice to the council and other agencies. I liaise with and report to senior officers within and outside the authority, elected members and other committees where tact, advocacy and diplomacy may be required.I work collaboratively and build ‘integrated teams’ seeking to ‘make a difference’ through modernisation and positive change and wholeheartedly support the development of staff through coaching, mentoring and growing our own talent.After 4 years in private practice at the start of my career, I have worked for 40 years in local government – 30 of those as a strategic leader. I am an active member of the RIBA, Constructing Excellence and SPACES.
