Parliament House Canberra

As the Director of Maintenance, I lead a team of 6 business units, Mechanical, Electrical, Building Fabric, Landscape, Planning and Building Information, to achieve greater efficiency and reduced costs of maintenance. Our view was to manage the assets within the Parliament House building to last for 200 years and our maintenance techniques needed to evolve to achieve this goal. All the while recording the changes to the building so future generations could reflect on the work that was done during our time there.

With overall responsibility for the Mechanical Maintenance for the Parliament House Building. HVAC, Plumbing and Fitting trades performing preventative and corrective maintenance to the complex and integrated systems within Parliament House.

Cabramurra

Starting in January 1980 as an apprentice Fitter & Turner, I successfully worked my way up to the Area Operations Manager of the Upper Tumut Region of the SMHEA, Cabramurra. Managing the Mechanical, Electrical, Controls maintenance for the Upper Tumut Hydro Generating units and Hydraulic Assets. In addition to this, I was responsible for the Civil Asset maintenance and the township of Cabramurra maintenance. I had budget, procurement and compliance responsibilities along with maintaining the generating units availability and operational readiness.
