TRIO Student Support Services Advisor provides students with knowledge of campus resources, institutional policies and procedures, academic options, and degree requirements. Utilizing a holistic approach, the Project Advisor also works closely with program participants to provide resources related to academic skills building, social integration into the college community, financial literacy, and post-graduation planning. Advisors use a variety of technological platforms to assess, analyze, and evaluate outreach and engagement initiatives to enhance efficiency and retention. There is frequent contact with students, faculty, and student parents concerning matters of sensitive or personal nature, in addition to regular collaborative efforts and communication with academic departments, student support services, and other members of campus and artistic communities

Assistants to Student Persistence aid in any task or process pertinent to student success the Persistence office could need. This includes helping with Orientation, corresponding with students on behalf of College Advising during either outreach campaigns or in relation to Columbia’s student Alert programs using the Student Success Collaborative (SSC) platform, using student information systems to collect data used in analyzing equity issues and retention to aid in program adaptations and dismissal petitions.
