This enabled quick and mutually beneficial resolutions to any issues that arose due to customers or subcontractors. Balanced against this was a desire to get the most from our suppliers, demanding high levels of service at all times. Our suppliers were both external and internal, as we made use of both continental partners and our own haulage and traction. Supplier performance was recorded, as below, in order to ensure continuing high levels of fulfilment.Budget control was essential in an industry with such low profit margins, and the success or failure of each shipment could have a key role in month end figures. Therefore it was vital that I accomplished the highest level of standard for each consignment undertaken. It was my personal responsibility and desire that this was achieved.The role of Analyst within the Russell International shipping office provided responsibility for several key areas. This included tender response with associated pricing and presentation preparation, ad hoc price requests, price matrix maintenance, bespoke data manipulation used for problem solving and investigation tasks and use of comprehensive Excel spreadsheets to record and investigate pricing requests, lane by lane revenues and profits and supplier performance.I initially undertook a self-motivated project to map the processes used within the department prior to my arrival, with the purpose of learning and absorbing all work undertaken.
