Energy Engineer
CurrentI provide energy consulting services to various clients. I specialize in energy conservation and large-scale wind pre-development projects. I am a licensed Professional Engineer in Montana. I am a certified Technical Service Provider for the Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service, CAP 128. I am a Certified Building Operator by the Intermountain Building Operator's Association. From 1982 to 1992, I worked for Peter Kiewit Son’s Company at the Black Butte coal mine and NorthWestern Resources at the Jewett mine as maintenance engineer, planner, and shop foreman. From 1992 through 2003, I worked with Montana Power Company/ NorthWestern Energy's energy conservation and renewable energy programs. I worked with residential, small industrial and commercial customers to help them save energy and generate their own. I also worked as electric distribution system engineer. Among other projects, I developed net metered systems interconnection standards and advised the utility on distributed generation issues. I have been involved in hundreds of utility interconnection projects, ranging from as small as one KW to as much as 135 MW. I developed and coordinated renewable energy programs for NorthWestern Energy, the largest electric utility in Montana. I was President of the Montana Renewable Energy Association from 2000 to 2010 and I am currently Secretary. I have been a board member of the organization since I founded it in 2000. I received the Bob Olsen Memorial Conservation Eagle Award in 2000 from the Northwest Energy Coalition. I received the AERO Annual Sustainable Energy Award in 2010. I am a member of ASHRAE.
