Inventor and entrepreneur with over 40 years experience in electronics, computing and automation, with equipment in all the major pharnaceutical, automotive companies as well as nuclear decommissioning and many other industries. I have over 30 years experience in robotics. I developed a unique technology combining mechanics, electronics and software that facilitates low cost industrial bench-top robots. I wrote the robot language RoboForth from assembler up. ST Robotics was founded to exploit this technology and volume produce affordable robot arms. The US corporation was founded in Trenton NJ in 1995. ST Robotics currently makes and sells 'boxed' robot arms as well as several high complexity robotics projects.Over the years in ST Robotics:1984: Designed class 10 cleanroom robots for semiconductor wafer handling.1989: Designed one of worlds first autonomous mobile robot for taking parts around a factory.1990: Designed several large scale Cartesian robots for nuclear decommissioning.1990: Formed Association Robot in Russia under Perestroika.1991: Designed the R17 robot arm with guest engineer from Russia.1996: supplied 8 tracked robots in high throughput screening systems for the first ever DNA database.Designed and installed many robotic high thruput screening systems for most pharmaceutical companies.2003: co-founded ELRIG (European Laboratory Robotics Interest Group now renamed European Laboratory Research and Innovation Group)2021 started development of agricultural robot 'droid', co-founded Autopickr with daughter Robyn Sands

1969: specialized in stabilized power supplies up to 10Kw. Mainly used for high speed cameras for crash testing by the various major automotive companies.1969: Distributed (networked) measurement system for Plant Breeding Institute.1970: Data logging up to 1000 channels of strain gauges for Laing Civil Engineering including Hunton Bridge on the M251970-1980: designed and produced dataloggers for strain gauges and thermocouples.1973: High speed data logger for Izod pendulum test for TRRL and University of Surrey capable of 1 million measurements per second into a minicomputer by direct memory access.1972-9: Servo hydraulic testing systems up to 50 tons at up to 10Hz.1978: designed non-contact system for measuring cardiac signals from rainbow trout as a way of monitoring water quality. Used by many water companies.1979: steering torque measurement instrument sold to all automotive companies.1980: Department of Industry Microprocessor Applications consultant.1980: wrote a Forth for industrial control using assembler.Installed systems for testing power steering systems in production, networked to a central computer.1981: Designed low cost benchtop robot arm the Cyber 310.Wrote the first versions of RoboForth for robots.
