This involves increasing public awareness and participation in waste prevention initiatives through the implementation of creative and innovative projects. In addition to this, it is also my duty to take on a key role in the development and production of publicity materials to accompany the ongoing roll-out of a new recycling service across Aberdeenshire, with an end goal of greatly increasing the amount of recycled materials. The position has a customer focus, meaning that excellent communication, project planning and public speaking skills are essential, as well as having ability to maintain a cost effective approach to marketing and promotional activities. I also have to prioritise and organise a heavy work schedule on a daily basis whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and brand consistency in line with both local and national stakeholders.The role affords me the opportunity to demonstrate proficiency across a number of disciplines including marketing, PR, design, press release writing and copy-writing. As Duty Officer it is my job to manage both indoor and outdoor swimming facilities. In addition to this the day to day running of the centre must also be undertaken, whilst attending to members of the public, and juggling budget management issues. The role also brings with it a need to operate under pressure in terms of successful and satisfying service delivery and also ensuring the safety of the publics making use of the facilities.

Throughout the first half of 2011, i spent some time writing articles for sport.co.uk. This role required that i generate content for the site which included a wide range of work from things like top 10 lists of players and pivotal moments in the season, all the way through to feature articles about players and clubs.

In the second half of my third year at university, i undertook a 6 week placement at the Daily Record in Glasgow as a business reporter. During my time there i helped work on various stories covered my the team, and contributed by writing articles for the website, daily newspaper and Business 7 magazine.

Worked as a trainee Mechanical Engineer. This involved working on the various equipment that the company provide as part of their ongoing service to companies.
