I am a non-executive Director of D & G Consulting, which offers facilitation and strategic development services, predominantly in the education sector. D & G has been responsible for the development of design guidelines on Innovative Learning Environments for the Ministry of Education, and frequently works supporting schools to develop their visions for their rebuild or redevelopment. D & G is currently facilitating the co-location process for a number of secondary schools across the South Island.

I purchased and developed 200ha of farmland in Karamea on the West Coast in 2005. During the pandemic I was lucky enough to spend significant time developing and integrating the property, including setting up Health and Safety, Environmental management, stock management and pasture systems.

This has meant working with council, contractors, surveyors and engineers to design and build over 4.5 km of roading, access ways and building platforms, including a 20m highway bridge. This development has left me with a sound understanding of managing a larger scale project and working with multiple stakeholders.

Te Namu Timber is an integrated logging and sawmilling company, extracting and milling native timber on public and private lands, that was windblown in Cyclone Ita in 2014. We work alongside Ngāi Tahu, DOC and the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). In this role I am responsible for managing the operation of two milling crews and an extraction crew, including all human resource related processes, business planning, financial reporting and health and safety. Our approach to both health and safety and stakeholder engagement has been shared with other operators as an example of best practice.
This was a newly created role as part of a market focused restructure for Steel and Tube, and involved developing a structure for the reticulation team and recruitment and selection for positions within the team. As part of the wider management team, I was responsible for the day-to-day and strategic management of reticulation for Canterbury and the West Coast, and in a specialist role nationwide.

In this role at Pentair, I was responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers throughout the upper South Island. This resulted in a large sales growth within my area. These results came from the sales and supply management of dozens of contracts, across a number of sectors, in addition to numerous smaller projects, and the management of the contracts and tenders associated with these.
