David Solano brought over 20 years of experience in written and visual storytelling from fast-paced media organizations to his previous role as a Senior Communications Manager for the City of Federal Way.Solano has served as the Communications Director at Multnomah Education Service District in Portland, Ore., and worked at Microsoft as a Senior Communications Manager and Executive Communications Manager. At Microsoft, Solano developed communication strategies, crafted communications for senior executives, and delivered impactful messages to global audiences.In 2017, Solano became the first-ever Sports Director of Mexican and African-American heritage in Seattle television history at KIRO-TV (CBS). Solano co-anchored the KIRO-TV newscast about the stolen plane at Sea-Tac Airport, which won an Emmy Award in 2018.In 2015, Solano returned home to work as a Sports Anchor for KOIN-TV (CBS) in Portland, Ore. He led the coverage of Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco and the 2017 Men's NCAA Final Four in Phoenix. Solano worked as a Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter for WXYZ-TV (ABC) in Detroit from 2012 to 2015. He covered the Lions, Red Wings, Tigers, and Pistons and hosted a Sunday night sports show.Solano joined KIAH-TV, Nexstar Media’s affiliate in Houston, from 2010-2012. While there, he covered the Houston Astros, Texans, Rockets, and Dynamo.
