Progressing through various roles has allowed me to gain valuable knowledge and experience. I have had the pleasure to work in IT as a sole capacity, a small IT team of just 7 and a large team of around 100. Whilst at the core the teams purpose remains the same the way in which this is applied and backed up with (or without/minimal) process and budget is interesting to be a part of. I have worked with a huge range of technologies and managed many different teams during my career including Application support, Server Ops (Windows and Linux), Service Desk, Network Operations, Client Delivery, Security Operations and Infrastructure Architecture.Successfully managed Incident, Request, Change, Problem and Transition management processes in accordance with ITIL v4 practices..Managed projects in Waterfall and Agile methodologies and became a certified Scrum Master.After almost 8 exciting years at the Ordnance Survey I took the plunge to go self-employed, an itch I had to scratch. Sure there were good times and a lot of learning opportunities but when 90% of your time is spent on running the business and just 10% on doing tasks you love it’s natural to reflect on expectation vs reality. I learnt a huge amount about running a business and gained useful insights and experience in finance, marketing and administration but I needed to move back into a role where I could use, maintain and grow my IT skills.I also identified weaknesses in myself, specifically interpersonal skills and sales. Always wanting to better myself this guided my next role to ensure I could face those challenges head-on.4 Years on from an IT role where a key focus was lead generation and sales I can confidently say I have closed those skill gaps. I am now working at New Forest District Council where after a stint as the ICT Service Desk Manager I moved into the Applications team as a Senior Analyst where I could make full use of my technical skills to lead the adoption of Microsoft's Power Platform, from implementation, governance and user training.
