Managing Director, Agrometeorology AustraliaSince 2017 I have provided operational climate forecasts for Australia starting in September-November one year looking ahead to the next winter growing season. I also run an operational crop yield forecasting system (STIN) on 1000+ real-time rainfall stations and produce national maps of shire yield rankings and soil moisture through the crop season. My STIN crop forecasting system can also calculate regional water use efficiencies (WUE) and technological yield increases in wheat yields for statistical sub-divisions, States, GRDC zones and Australia. I also provide climate risk information and can present on climate change and its impact on Agriculture.Prior to 2017, I worked for four years as the Manager of Supply Dynamics at the Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre (AEGIC), and before that, for 16 years as a a senior research officer (research officer) at the Western Australian Department of Agriculture (Agriculture WA, DAFWA). In this time, I developed an operational climate forecasting system based on new climate indicators and analogue years. The crop forecasting system (STIN ) that I developed in my honours/PhD projects at Murdoch University were further developed to produce the many products listed above.
