Talbot was Director of Investments at McKinley Capital. He was responsible for the fundamental analysis of markets and companies in a broad range of global institutional equity portfolios, supporting a quantitative investment process. He was also one of the key presenters in regular client reviews and new business pitches. He shared responsibility for raising capital in three separate strategies. It was during this time that Talbot substituted paper presentations with synchronized iPad formats which led him to create the Synchrotab App.

Talbot was Vice President, Energy Strategist and shareholder at John S. Herold. Two years into his tenure, and under his institutional sales leadership, the product was voted number 1 in the 2004 II independent research survey. Three years later the company was sold to IHS (IHSMarkit). The successful liquidity event freed him to take a senior roll on the buy-side with McKinley Capital.
