Started my horticultural career on Brighton Parks as a Trainee. Three year scheme that required studying horticulture and rotation working on various parks around Brighton. Following training I was based at Preston Park, before becoming a Senior Foreman of a mobile maintenance team. Determined to secure a managerial position I left to take a role at Arun District Council as Parks Officer. My role was a client officer to manage grounds maintenance contracts. I then joined Brophy Plc as a Contracts Manager in Portsmouth, unfortunately this was a short period due to the financial position of Brophy (much covered in the media). I spent a short time as a consultant for pricing grounds maintenance contracts, but the work was temporary due to the infrequent release of new contracts. I joined Mid Sussex District Council as an Assistant Grounds Maintenance Manager, and had resp-onsibility then for the high profile parks. My current position as Landscape Contracts Manager has expanded to having responsibility for all grounds contracts, the landscape team and deupty for the head of the landscape section.I am Green Flag Judge and enjoy visiting many other parks and talking to parks managers about their parks and how they are managed. A refreshing way to meet other industry professionals and stay up to date with whats happening in other places.
