The client had designed a new cableless seismic data acquisition hardware system, and needed an application to manage the logistics of the large seismic data surveys made possible by their new hardware. The application was developed by a team of seven NPSi developers that I managed. In addition, I personally wrote the core data acquisition (“shooting”) and seismic data import/export functionality. The application was on-the-ground and managing a live seismic survey just eight months after development began, and has continued to evolve over the past 3+ years as the system is rolled-out to commercial users. Personally authored the WITSML (Well site Information Transfer Standard Markup Language) Application Program Interface (API), an XML/SOAP-based standard for the exchange of oil industry drilling data (www.witsml.org). Working with industry drilling-domain experts, designed the API and delivered a working prototype implementation within five months of project launch.Product architect and manager of the RightTime System, a comprehensive, high-end server implementation of the WITSML standard. Developed initial vision, designed the system and managed the development team, as well as provided sales support with customer demos, seminars and industry presentations. The IP rights were purchased by Landmark Graphics division of Halliburton.Managed development of a high-performance system to support one of the first stored-value debit cards, with interfaces to ATM/POS networks, telco switch, voice response and other external systems. Designed and elaborated the system based on a single page “vision” sketched by the business entrepreneur, then managed development, deployment and turn-over of completed system to hosting facility.
