Safe Navigation Solutions strives to enhance safety of shipboard operations by providing training and other consulting services. Expert in the use of navigation systems such as ECDIS & Radar and control systems such as Track steering and autopilot. This expertise was gained while employed by a major manufacturer of these systems, serving in three different positions, with more than five years in each. 1. As captain of the manufacturer's dedicated test vessel extensive hands-on experience was gained while using the systems 'for real' sailing coastal waters between Texas & Maine. Systems were also evaluated and demonstrated for prospective customers. 2. Shifted to shore side and established one of the first USCG approved 40-hour ECDIS courses in the US as an STCW certified instructor. Also delivered on-board training for more than 100 different vessels, and delivered training courses at several different shore-side facilities including STAR Center, and MSI Rotterdam. 3. Switched from training to QA Engineering; where invaluable knowledge was gained testing and helping to guide development of the current generation of ECDIS/RADAR and autopilot 'from the ground up' from the very beginning of the respective product development cycles. Became certified for ISO 9001 auditing, while leading a small team of test engineers. Experience with these systems continued to grow after leaving employment with the manufacturer, and taking up a role in training again. First as an adjunct instructor at Resolve Maritime Academy in Florida, and more recently on board vessels delivering comprehensive IBS training and issuing Type-specific ECDIS training certificates as an approved manufacturer's training provider.
