This job was a great deal of of heavy metalworking. It involved teamwork and working in conjunction with machinery and lifting equipment (cranes, forklifts, telehandlers) Some of the work was maintenance but much was modifications and custom equipment. I learned a great deal about machinery failure modes, stress, abrasion, fatigue. I gained an understanding of how tough equipment has to be to continue working in extreme environments. The need for equipment to be easily maintained is essential and how strength of materials is all relative. Example; 5mm steel plate seems strong to a person, but in a heavier applications it tears like Plasticine. It was an enlightening job, and a lot of fun!
