This experience allowed me to develop a good working knowledge of tunnelling because it included cross passages, shafts, and sumps, as well as centre rooms and launch chambers which were all shotcrete works. My primary function during this time was concerned with two road tunnels followed by four TBM drives for train tunnels for the London Underground, each 1.6km long with a build tolerance of 45mm. In addition to these experiences, I also developed skills in terms of setting out, for example with GPS or of M&E where the accuracy had only a 2mm tolerance. Show less
