It's empowering to know what you want in life. Up until two years ago I had no idea what I wanted. I've been a car stereo in staller for about fifteen years now. I'm good at working with my hands and problem solving and have been successful as an installer but for the last 8 years I've been looking for something more. I wanted to do something more meaningful that people actually need. I wanted to be outside in the elements and experience new struggles each day. I took weekend jobs working at local ski areas as a chairlift operator, and a mountain bike trail builder. I enrolled in community college and got my EMT certification. I filled my spare time with rock climbing, mountain biking and all sorts of outdoor pursuits. I had fun and did well but still couldn't quite pinpoint what I was looking for. Then two years ago I learned what an electrical lineman was. My first thought was that it was too late for me to start a new career path. I couldn't stop thinking about it. It seemed like the more I learned about linework the more I wanted to do it. Maybe I'd found what I'd been looking for. I sold my house and enrolled in school at Northwest Lineman College. I did very well in school and finished with one of the highest overall GPA's in my class, but most importantly to me, I enjoyed every minute of it! So, now I'm looking for a path to apprenticeship and confident for the first time in life that this is exactly what I want to do. My drive to continue learning and succeed at a top level is relentless and I'm excited to see where this passion takes me! Thanks for reading.
