As a note taker for the QUT Equity and Student Counselling department, I had the opportunity to develop my professional writing and communication skills by compiling comprehensive notes for students who were unable to attend lectures.

The Justice Mentor Program (JuMP) at QUT is a program that is developed to provide first year law and justice students with academic support through the work of enthusiastic and high achieving peer mentors who are studying the same degrees.In 2016, my role was a Drop-in mentor and required me to work alongside another mentor, offering guidance and support.

Brisbane South Community Corrections

As a part of my Bachelor of Justice with QUT, I had the opportunity to undertake a work experience placement with Brisbane South Community Corrections and complete a project to contribute to the organisation. The project involved me developing a handbook for case managers which contextualised women's offending and lived experiences and provided a research.

The student volunteer position I undertook has given me practical skills and a comprehensive understanding of a number of roles performed by Community Corrections Case Managers. Tasks I undertook included:- Observing induction, assessment and management interviews with clients- Preparing induction documents- Performing collateral checks with third party.
