As a Support Officer for the Parole Board QLD (PBQ) my role was to ensure: - The efficient file management of matters- That Board requested materials for matters were received (in their entirety) from the relevant stakeholders through formal requests and follow ups- That matters were scheduled by priority to appropriate meetings- The processing, management, creation and scheduling of New Applications- The handling and processing of incoming and outgoing mailThe continual improvements and streamlining of Parole Board Secretariat (PBS) policies and procesess have allowed me to participate in system restructuring through consultation and collaboration with colleagues during my period of employment.These changes (most notably) expanded my role to include immediate suspension functions:- Drafting warrants for offender's arrest following suspension advice received from Probation and Parole- Issuing warrants following endorsement by the relevant Professional Board Member- Drafting and issuing of suspension orders to the relevant Probation and Parole District Offices following suspension endorsement- Scheduling of suspension matters to the relevant Advice to Parole Board (APB) and Amendment meetings within the legislative timeframe

As a note taker for the QUT Equity and Student Counselling department, I had the opportunity to develop my professional writing and communication skills by compiling comprehensive notes for students who were unable to attend lectures.

Qut (Queensland University Of Technology)

The Justice Mentor Program (JuMP) at QUT is a program that is developed to provide first year law and justice students with academic support through the work of enthusiastic and high achieving peer mentors who are studying the same degrees.In 2016, my role was a Drop-in mentor and required me to work alongside another mentor, offering guidance and support for the students during a scheduled time slot.In 2017, my role was an Intensive mentor which required me to work one-to-one with one or more students who had asked for more specific guidance and support with their course work. These students remained the same across each semester and scheduled mentoring sessions were made at both the mentor and student's discretion.

Brisbane South Community Corrections

As a part of my Bachelor of Justice with QUT, I had the opportunity to undertake a work experience placement with Brisbane South Community Corrections and complete a project to contribute to the organisation. The project involved me developing a handbook for case managers which contextualised women's offending and lived experiences and provided a research base to enable me to identify community-based support services for female offenders in Brisbane.The need for this project arose from discussions with staff that female offenders are a high needs group and information about appropriate services is limited.The outcomes of this project were positive and the handbook will be used as a resource for staff.

Brisbane South Community Corrections

The student volunteer position I undertook has given me practical skills and a comprehensive understanding of a number of roles performed by Community Corrections Case Managers. Tasks I undertook included:- Observing induction, assessment and management interviews with clients- Preparing induction documents- Performing collateral checks with third party groups and stakeholders- Accompanying Case Managers on home visits- Filing and managing client case files- Navigating and utilising IOMs (Integrated Offender Management System)- Creating risk assessments- Writing completion reports following client's supervision expiry
