Bio-geochemist / Soil scientist /Head of Enterprise at Teagasc, Environment, Soils and Land-use Research Johnstown Castle. Leader of the Soil Health and Nutrient Efficiency Research Programme with responsibility for the "Green Book" of nutrient advice for agricultural crops in Ireland. My research is focused on the development of sustainable management practices for agricultural soils and understanding the fate of nutrients and carbon in agricultural systems. Some of my research interests include: o Improving nutrient efficiency in agricultural systems and increasing the precision of nutrient advice.o Building new understanding of soil N mineralization processes across different soil types.o Understanding the trade-offs and synergies between management practices for C farmingo Quantifying soil phosphorus dynamics for increased plant and animal P nutrition and C sequestrationo Soil pH, lime, micronutrient and heavy-metal interactions in the rhizosphereo
