As the Executive Director of a Primary Data Center I was responsible for data center management and operations, security, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, system administration, database administration, system programming, job control, production control, storage, technical support and help desk services. NSRC is the largest data center in the state of Florida government. This data center maintains an IBM Sysplex, which is made up of 4 IBM mainframes of 3100 MIPS capacity. We currently are running over 700 servers, both windows OS and Linux OS. I oversaw a projected billing budget of 28 million dollars. I had over 100 employees and contract staff. I was appointed by and report directly to a Board of Trustees that was made up of the member Agencies for which we provided services. My primary responsibilities included the day to day operations of the data center as well as management of all financial/budgetary responsibilities. I was in constant relations with all vendors that provide products to the data center in search of ways to reduce cost to my customers. I was responsible for creating a strategic plan that would carry the data center into the future of technology while at the same time reducing the cost of operations thus reducing the price of services to customers. This position required me to work closely with the Governors’ office as well as members of the House and Senate of the State of Florida.

The legislation created a State of Florida Data Center System of three primary data centers. The current Department data center located at Northwood is included as one of the State’s primary data centers. Northwood Shared Resource Center is scheduled to divest from DCF effective July 1, 2009. My position responsibilities were to serve as the primary interface for DCF with all Agencies that are currently customers of the DCF data center, as well as external agencies, Governor’s office, AEIT and other organizations as needed concerning the operational migration from the DCF Data Center to the State of Florida Northwood Shared Resource Center (NSRC). I provided weekly briefings to the Assistant Secretary for Administration, DCF and the Chief Information Officer, DCF, as well as The CIO for the State of Florida.My tasks required senior level involvement and extensive knowledge of the existing environment, as well as extensive planning and cooperation with all Agencies that are either current or future customers of the NSRC. I was responsible for assuring that all requirements listed in the legislation were followed as well as suggesting recommendations for any needed refinements to existing statutes for the purposes of successfully implementing the NSRC. -
