As the COO for Quantum Aviation I was privileged to be in the driving seat of a rising start-up providing aviation security consultancy and bespoke counter drone technologies to the private sector.

TMC Partners was a business consultancy company focusing on regulatory oversight and compliance for aviation customers specialising in flying operations. As a leader in regulatory cross-comparisons we performed the full spectrum of investigation, report writing and document creation and submission to both civil and military authorities.Providing audit of Aviation Operations process and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance in order to provide ground and air operational assurance to the Board. Documentation for Airbus Helicopters UK was held up as the Industry Standard by the UK Military Aviation Authority (MAA) in 2014.Successful compliance preparation for Castle Air Ltd ensured continued MAA operational approval. TMC Partners offered a unique and bespoke service to aircraft operators, including several multi-nationals. Able to provide an ongoing service to update operations process as the regulations change, or if required complete a full re-write of company operations documentation to ensure that Risk-based assurance of flying activity is undertaken and understood. The company was closed in 2017 due to increased commitment to Quantum Aviation Ltd as the Chief Operating Officer.

Headhunted to lead a Royal Air Force Reserve Squadron to ensure unparalleled support to front-line helicopter forces and drive forward reforms to UK Reserve Forces under the Future Reserves 2020 programme. The Squadron doubled its manpower in the 2 1/2 years of my tenure and we ensured that our support and management for these dedicated volunteers matches their commitment to their country.

As the company Safety Manager I restarted and drove a stalled project through to successful conclusion with the delivery of an Aircraft Release-to-Service. The role required extensive negotiating and skillful team building with international delivery partners in Europe and with the main UK-based customer.Specific 'deliverables' included Software Management Plan, Design Organisation Safety Case Report and Structural Integrity Summary Report in lieu of a Static and Fatigue Type Record. Fully conversant with DEFSTAN, FAR and current MAA requirements for military aircraft programmes and EASA compliance regimes.

Strategic and capability development planning for 2 helicopter fleets. ♦ Responsible to Station Commander RAF Benson for management of the flying task, personnel allocation, budgetary oversight and worldwide contingency planning. ♦ Responsibility for equipment and personnel lines of development for Merlin HC4 and Puma HC2 helicopter upgrade programme. ♦ Long-term operational and military exercise planning and policy creation. ♦ Successful implementation of Force HQ restructuring, using Continuous Improvement methodology and principles. ♦ Latterly the helicopter Operations Manager for all UK helicopters in Afghanistan and responsible for their provision during casualty evacuation from the battlefield.

Responsible for the leadership, management and administration of a 250 strong team. ♦ Senior leader, manager and supervisor, UK and overseas. Helicopter Detachment Commander Joint Helicopter Force (Kenya). ♦ Project manager and coordinator of a £6.5 M project to collocate 2 support helicopter Squadrons at RAF Benson; on time and budget. ♦ Budget management, with responsibility for allocation of £1M annually. ♦ Commanding Officer for Ex CLOCKWORK, Norwegian Arctic Environmental Qualification annual exercise, with responsibility for deployed command, management and welfare of 300 Army, Navy and Airforce personnel. ♦ Diplomatic and commercial liaison with civilian, civil service and military professionals in the UK and Europe.

The RAF’s subject matter expert on transport aircraft and helicopter aviation safety. Responsible for risk management and aviation safety for a fleet of several hundred aircraft, the pro-active targeting of risk awareness programmes at 15 major airbases and the implementation of overseas safety management programmes. ♦ Troubleshooting in operational theatres including Afghanistan and Iraq, responsible for independent external audits of management practice and safety. ♦ Safety Management systems inception and implementation up to board level and across multiple aircraft fleets. ♦ Incorporation of commercial change management practices during the restructuring of aviation safety at main bases across the world.
