I work with business leaders, R&D management, researchers, and engineers. I help manage our new product development, plan and execute our technology roadmap, and drive growth in our key technology areas.I work on acquisitions and collaborations with industry and academia, managing the due diligence and Intellectual Property (IP) risks. I prepare agreements for research projects, clinical trials and procurement.Using commercial judgement and common sense I manage a global IP strategy, and I help balance our new opportunities and business risks. This includes Freedom-to-Operate (FTO), validity opinions, competitor analysis, oppositions and litigation when necessary. It also includes innovation capture and assessment to align our IP portfolio with our products, and where appropriate, identifying opportunities to block our competitors.I am a European and UK Chartered Patent Attorney with particular experience in Japan and the US. I have experience in-house and in private practice of medical devices, Artificial Intelligence (AI), energy, engineering, physics, chemistry and medicinal chemistry. I provide training internally and externally to help colleagues develop a better, relevant working knowledge of IP. Optos is a leading medical technology company that designs, develops, manufactures, and markets retinal imaging devices. Retinal imaging is an important tool for the screening and diagnosis of eye problems, such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataracts, retinal holes, retinal tears, and age-related macular degeneration, it can also indicate evidence of non-eye diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and certain cancers.
