Responsible for overseeing medium- to large-scale engineering projects related the new introduction process (NPI), manufacturing process improvements, and continuous improvements related to the acoustic transducer products. Projects would often include managing the resources associated with cross-functional teams and traveling to the manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico 8 to 10 times per year to install equipment deliverables or implement process solutions.

Responsibilities during this time involved 3 separate positions within the same department. Oversaw the daily activities and provided technical leadership for a group of mechanical engineers and/or engineering support staff (i.e. supervisors, designers, drafters, assembly technicians, buyers and project coordinators). Staff usually averaged between 6 to 10 people. In addition to my management responsibilities, I also worked to improve the productivity and operational efficiency of the department by developing and implementing numerous Excel-based tools that utilized Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).

During this time, I was responsible for the design, development and implementation of three large-scale transducer assembly lines, along with numerous upgrades to these lines to manufacture new products as they were developed by the transducer group. Project management responsibilities included: line conceptualization and layout, developing cost estimates and tracking expenses, project schedule creation (MS Project) and tracking, risk determination and mitigation, task delegation and daily monitoring, technical guidance and leadership, and equipment installation. I also participated on numerous product development teams as a subject matter expert (SME) in the field of design for manufacturability.

Responsible for the design of mechanical assemblies and automated equipment to support the manufacture of Bose products in their Westborough, MA and San Luis, Mexico plants. Although it was not officially part of my responsibilities, in 1992 I volunteered to lead a small team to develop the first in-house built twiddler (a.k.a. a small acoustic transducer). After the successful completion of the twiddler development project in 1993, I began overseeing the efforts of other engineers, technicians and designers on a large-scale project to design and build the first twiddler assembly line at Bose.

Woburn, Ma

Responsible for the design of mechanical assemblies and automated equipment to support the requirements of external customers. Also responsible for managing projects of medium-sized scope and complexity. Major accomplishments included an automated plastic pipette assembly machine, micro-separations product (MSP) assembly machine, plastic wire tie de-gating conveyor, and a color copier film assembly machine. Traveled with the company president to assist with the development of cost estimates and proposals.
