Early assessments revealed that the data quality was insufficient for system development, highlighting issues of consistency, traceability, and transparency.To address these issues, the project compiled challenges from SRS-4-MSE and past projects. A set of methods for managing data-based projects was also developed through research, compared, and integrated to form a basis for goal setting. From this, three solution approaches were described, evaluated, and one preferred method was detailed in guidelines and applied to the project.This process confirmed the project's initial thesis and provided tools to enhance consistency, traceability, and transparency, though no generic method for these aspects was identified. The project outlined necessary phases, milestones, and activities for data-based projects, defined by specific guiding questions.A new, adaptive method was created, combining these tools with findings to ensure project consistency, traceability, and transparency. This method includes a structured approach with regular updates, a standardized folder structure, and documentation standards, structured around defined roles. It organizes planning across three levels: project, phase, and iteration, focusing on prerequisites, milestone planning, and detailed task execution, respectively.Applying this method to the SRS-4-MSE project indicated that many earlier issues could have been prevented. However, the method's communication model, requiring real-world conditions, wasn't fully testable within this thesis's scope, suggesting a need for further testing and development in actual project settings. To address this, they developed a set of methods to improve data quality.An in-depth literature search revealed that there is no standardized method for evaluating data quality and that the criteria must be individually adapted. On this basis, the team created a collection of methods that were applied to seven different data sets and compared. The most effective methods then improved the data quality of an industry partner.Despite a variety of methods for outlier detection and data imputation, some of which achieved deviations of less than 1%, the industry partner's data showed an average deviation of around 2.43 minutes in processing times, which led to planning uncertainties of up to 6.5 hours and thus did not meet the requirements.The analysis indicates that the previous measures to improve data quality were not sufficient. They recommend a process-oriented approach that could improve the data collection processes. However, a reorientation of the project towards a generic simulation environment for planning virtual production environments is being considered, which calls into question the feasibility of the current approach.
