I joined the McBrayer Law firm in 2002, after spending three years in a boutique litigation firm where my practice focused primarily in the area of complex litigation and mass torts. During that time period, I practiced cases in approximately 15 states and federal jurisdictions, coordinating between local and national counsel on the defense of contractors and products manufacturers in building products cases. Since joining the firm in 2002, my practice has combined a principal focus on commercial and insurance litigation with work in equine law (transactional and litigation) and bankruptcy. I have also continued to have a focus in class actions and complex litigation on both the plaintiff and defense sides, and was part of the firm’s team that successfully prosecuted the Curtis Congleton action against the Burley Tobacco Growers Cooperative Association, resulting in a substantial recovery to the plaintiff farmers. Often acknowledged by courts for my proficient legal writing, I am a regular participant in the firm’s civil appellate practice.I received a B.A. in History with High Distinction from the University of Kentucky in 1990, where I was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and won the history department Philo Bennett prize for outstanding research essay as a junior and senior. I received my J.D. from the University of Kentucky in 1999. Outside of my legal practice, I am a member of the LFUCG Historic Preservation Commission, and recently completed a term on the Board of Directors of the Fayette County Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service. Since 2007, I have been active in site-based decision making groups in the Fayette County Public Schools.
