I feel that my profile should let people know who I am and not who I am perceived to be because of the labels attached to me. I was in the Army until my mid thirties and was labelled as a soldier. I left the Army and after doing various jobs I became a solicitor. I have specialised in Employment Law since qualifying in 2001.So I have had the label of soldier and solicitor attached to me. I am also a father, but those three labels do not let you know who I am and why I am the person I am. I therefore decided to change this profile following the profound changes that have occurred in my life since 2019. For those people who know me and have followed my story they will know the changes I am talking off.I can write here how competent a solicitor I am. However, that conclusion should only be drawn by those people and businesses I have advised and assisted over the years. I believe I am competent. My competency comes from my willingness to learn not only the law but to put into practice the values and morals I was taught by my parents when dealing with those clients I have assisted and advised. I don't believe, I know that the one the most important aspects of being a solicitor is client care. Clients I have dealt with over the years have told me that their previous solicitor has not listened to them or has treated them in a derogatory manner. My Dad told me that the reason we were given two ears and one mouth is that listening is more important than talking. I apply that principle when dealing with my clients. If I didn't, how could I attain the outcome the client is hoping to achieve.I treat everyone I meet in the way I would like to be treated regardless of who they may be. I would like the people I come across, whether they be clients or ;people I meet in a social setting to feel that I have treated them with respect and dignity. I would like them to say, " What a lovely man". Why do I want people to say that? It is not for my own self-gratification. I want them to say because it shows me that the time and effort and the way my parents brought me up has not been wasted and that I am meeting the standards they set for me as a human being.I am now starting a new chapter in my career by commencing a new role as a partner at Axiom DWFM. I hope to learn new things and improve myself as a solicitor. and a person. I hope that I continue treating my clients and colleagues as individuals treating each one with the dignity and respect I would like to be treated with.
