• Worked in small teams on the design and implementation of new features for the existing Blackberry and Windows Mobile based application.• Worked in the whole development life cycle from requirements capture with customers, to eventual test and deployment.• Performed a number of memory and performance optimisations on the existing code and succeeded in reducing the number of memory related issues being reported.• Refactored large portions of the company's legacy mobile application, successfully reducing the codebase by almost half, making future maintenance much more manageable and less time consuming.• Added unit testing to the current client application where previously there was none. This was achieved as part of the refactoring of the application by improving the testability through the use of dependency injection.• Researched and implemented a change from the existing Subversion version control system to a distributed version control system (Git), with an aim to improving the ability for the teams to collaborate on changes and to introduce a more rigid form of quality control into the build a release process.• Initiated the company's transition into the use of Ivy for project dependency management. Updated the Ant build scripts to use Ivy and integrated it with a locally installed and managed instance of Nexus (Sonatype), which we use as our private repository for all libraries.• Investigated potential replacements for the JVM being used for the Windows Mobile Platform. This involved ensuring the new JVM would support two-way SSL authentication and also writing native C++ code that could be called via JNI to overcome some of the shortcomings of the JVM implementation.• Responsible for the administration of the company Blackberry Enterprise Server and ultimately the deployment of our application over-the-air using the Blackberry infrastructure. This often involved providing support on-site for customers without their own BES administrator.
