David is a corporate finance professional who specialises in providing strategic and financial advisory services to small and mid-cap organisations through the deal lifecycle. Through Pardal Ventures (www.pardalventures.com), the advisory practice he established more than six years ago, David has provided advisory services to private businesses, investment firms and governmental organisations on deals ranging in value from <$1m to $150m+. David has extensive experience in strategic infrastructure investment, including telecommunications, software and IT services, power and utilities and building products and materials. He has served as financial advisor on many aspects of transactions, including: buy / sell mandates, capital raising, financial and operational due diligence, identification of acquisition targets, business valuation, preparation of business plans and financing proposals, and preparation and negotiation of bids and acquisition agreements.David’s recent experience includes buy side operational and financial due diligence to global investment firms, regional governments and Canadian Crown Corporations seeking to invest in Canadian infrastructure and utility projects. This includes preparing valuation reports, business plans and financial models for mid-market utility construction contractors; and assisting the development of public private partnerships between telecommunications service providers, investment firms and local communities within Canada.David has also served as Financial Controller for a regional telecommunications company, providing ongoing financial management, including cash flow management, business performance and analysis and financial modelling. This experience was initially as advisor to the investors and evolved into becoming Financial Controller and involved David throughout the entire corporate lifecycle with his efforts culminating in a successful exit and smooth transition as the organisation was sold.David is a consummate dealmaker, and prides himself on his ability to facilitate deals, by combining his technical knowledge with his communication and facilitation skills. He has an excellent track record of bringing parties together and delivering complex deals. Prior to founding Pardal Ventures, David worked for BDO, CIBC World Markets and RDM Management Group (a boutique consultancy). David holds an MBA in Corporate Finance & Business Valuation, and is a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) trained in International Valuation Standards.
