Based in WRI's Global Executive Office, working with Regional, Country, and Global Program Directors to ensure WRI's country strategies and teams are designed, equipped, and delivering the quality research and collective action needed for just transitions in every country where WRI is active. To address the critical speed and scale of action required, I worked alongside WRI's Global Executive Team across WRI’s programs (climate, energy, food, forests, water, oceans, cities), centers (economics, finance, governance, and business), and offices to design, evolve, and scale WRI's approaches to high impact public-private partnership. Roles included:• Redesigning, reorganizing, and raising >$40 million for the 12-country program, Partnering for Green Growth and Global Goals (P4G) with partner MFAs of Denmark The Netherlands, and the Republic of Korea;• Negotiating and managing the restructuring and spin-off of the Science-based Targets Initiative (SBTi) with partners WWF, We Mean Business, CDP, and the UN Global Compact;• Providing strategic and governance advice for WBCSD and WRI on evolving and scaling the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG-P);• Co-leading the development of new partnerships and "Enabling Systems" (economics, finance, and governance) aspect of WRI's global 5-year strategy; and• Brokering key decisions and new internal policies for establishing and managing WRI regional and country offices

Reporting to the Board of Directors, served as the first Executive Director to build a global coalition of ~100 CEOs and Ministers accelerating the speed and scale of circular economy action. Key results included adopting the first global goal for the circular economy; establishing the first global coalition on circular corporate and national metrics; promoting the move towards a global treaty on plastics; and launching the first global Action Agenda across 5 key focal areas with over 200 aligned projects underway. Launched demonstration projects on plastics, food, electronics, fashion, capital equipment, metrics, and finance. Launched regional coalitions in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America & Caribbean, and North America. Established a strong team and Board with an approved 5-year strategy and funding pathway.

As Palladium's first portfolio leader for social innovation and technology, I had full strategic and P&L responsibility for our work in social entrepreneurship, innovation, technology (ICT4D), and innovative financing across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). As a member of the EMEA Leadership Team, I advised Palladium's global and regional leaders on the transformation of our operations, offerings, and industry through innovation and technology to accelerate positive impact. The development sectors and themes of our work focused on economic growth, climate, environment, natural resources, health, education, water and sanitation, trade and investments, and inclusion.With a team of 30+ full-time staff and over 40 consultants, I had overall responsibility for the successful delivery of complex innovation and technology programmes, including the SPRING Accelerator (www.thespringaccelerator.org) and the Human Development Innovation Fund (www.hdif-tz.org)--which all received contract cost extensions and A or A+ ratings in all independent evaluations under my leadership. In addition to direct activity implementation, we funded, mentored, and celebrated over 100 grantees. Results from our portfolio influenced global and local policies and strategies, including DFID's Digital Strategy (2018-20).Externally, I served as a media liaison for Palladium on social innovation and technology--providing sector thought leadership on topics such as frontier technologies, digital transformation, private sector development, cross-sector collaboration, shared value, and impact investing.

SPRING Accelerator, a £25m grant and advisory fund supporting girls’ empowerment through start-ups and innovation in 9 countries in Africa and Asia. Co-funded by Nike, DFAT, USAID, and UKAid (FCDO), my role provided overall corporate responsibility and oversight for the program--including strengthening MEL and other linkages to other Palladium and FCDO programs to influence broader policies and practices, renegotiating core partner relationships, securing performance-based financing, reorganizing the London-based core team, and advising partners in the final phase of delivery to ensure the greatest possible use of learning and continuation of supported social enterprises and activities.

British Expertise Award for Best International Collaborative Project in 2019. I led all aspects of the Human Development Innovation Fund (HDIF), a £40 million UKAid investment fund accelerating the testing and adoption of innovations in education, health, water and sanitation in Tanzania. My role included overall responsibility for client relationship management, internal corporate accountability, team building and leadership, quality technical delivery, financial management, and risk mitigation. HDIF received an A+ rating in all independent evaluations since our transformation efforts began in 2014.HDIF's team of 18 staff, 30 consultants, and 4 consortium partners work to build the Tanzanian innovation ecosystem, catalyze the diffusion of innovations through grant funding and mentoring over 40 grantees, and promoting the use of data and evidence to influence policy and practice. In addition to the main focus areas of health, education, and water and sanitation, our work and impact also focused on gender and disability inclusion, ICT uptake, jobs and skills, innovation ecosystems, menstrual hygiene management (MHM), rural enterprise development, and evidence-based policymaking.We championed the development of the first gender framework for innovation in international development, in addition to a suite of tools and practical learning on the application of the Principles for Digital Development.Evidence and learning from HDIF has been adopted in, for example, DFID's Digital Strategy (2018-20) and Tanzania's Inclusive National Entrepreneurship Strategy (2017-21). British Expertise Award 2019 Winner for International Collaborative Project.

I launched and led H14 Development to work at the cutting edge of new approaches to international development that I began exploring while working at Deloitte and teaching at Villanova--including new forms of cross-sector partnering, new legal structures for delivering social good (such as L3Cs and B Corporations), enhancing and expanding the pro bono marketplace, and leveraging technology to accelerate social change.Building and leading an agile team, three of my favorite transformation projects that we delivered were:➀ Advising Global Giving on structuring the $20 million Pepsi Refresh campaign, which radically changed Global Giving by adding new offerings with over 100% revenue growth and was one of the most significant shifts for any major corporation to realign core marketing budget to a social change initiative;➁ Advising the founders of the first L3C (Low profit limited liability company) impact investment fund on strategies and structures for launching and scaling their innovative financing mechanisms; and➂ Coming alongside the 19-member Steering Committee (especially USAID) to develop partnerships and new approaches for the Mobiles for Education (mEducation) Alliance.Our work covered numerous development sectors and themes including resilience, climate adaptation, water and sanitation, urbanization, ICT4D, livelihoods, health, education, and child protection.

I redesigned and led a catalytic investment made by World Vision's executive leaders to enhance the organization's global private sector (market-led) development programs and capacity in cross-sector deal brokering within a >$200 million government grants portfolio (including USAID, CDC, USDA, Gates Foundation, and DFAT).Leading a catalytic team of change agents with backgrounds in strategic planning and private sector development, we:➀ Advised and coached US and global leaders on progressive approaches to development, including uses of digital technology, innovation processes, market-led development, and impact investing;➁ Designed, negotiated, and managed complex cross-sector collaborations with global, regional, and local businesses and government agencies; and➂ Provided World Vision's resource acquisition, project management, and technical teams capacity building and advisory services in strategic planning, partnership structuring, and deal brokering. Our work covered numerous development sectors and themes including resilience, climate adaptation, water and sanitation, ICT4D, livelihoods, health, education, and child protection. In line with the overall corporate investment timeline, I effectively transitioned the special initiative into a mainstreamed structure resulting in >30% year-on-year savings with no revenue compromise.
