Second in command of a 1000-man Infantry Stryker Battalion Task Force equipped with light 8-wheeled armored fighting vehicles operating in Panjawa’i district of Kandahar Province in southern Afghanistan. Responsible for synchronizing the planning and administrative efforts of a 40-person staff in support of the commander’s priorities, coordinating the resources of external units in support of operational and logistical requirements, and supervising the execution of daily combat operations. - Planned the battalion’s base closures and withdrawal from one of the most hostile regions in Afghanistan while maintaining pressure on resurgent enemy networks. - Led a young, inexperienced staff through operational planning and tactical exercises at the Yakima Training Center, WA twice, and the National Training Center. Ranked number one of six Executive Officers.- Rated the #1 battalion executive officer and rated in the top 1% of all officers

Student, Command and General Staff College

Responsible for the development of the Army’s strategic vision, plans and initiatives in support of the Secretary of the Army. Developed and managed long-range planning calendars for continental U.S. and overseas travel plans in coordination with the Office of the Chief of Staff, Vice Chief of Staff, Director of the Army Staff and other major Army commands. - Researched and developed the initial plans for restructuring the Institutional Army in order to better align with senior-leader strategic visions, unforecasted budgets and unforeseen threats to national security- Rated in the top 10% of all officers by the Secretary of the Army

Commander of the brigade headquarters and headquarters company of a forward-deployed Airborne Infantry Brigade from Vicenza Italy. Served as the commander, senior leader, for the 260 soldiers and civilians who run the corporate headquarters for the 173rd Brigade, an organization of over 3,200 people. Responsible for providing shelter, health and welfare items, and for the on-going education and professional development of those who are assigned to the tactical operations center, or TOC, which is the combat nerve center for the entire organization.- Responsible for preparing 260 soldiers for combat operations which involved the creation of an environment where they can gain confidence in their weapons and in their fellow soldiers during stressful and demanding situations. This included deployment preparations, requiring the coordination of movement of equipment and people across multiple European borders, coordinating with three national police forces, and acquiring knowledge of relevant European laws and policies for transportation within those countries.- Awarded Bronze Star Medal and rated in the top 1% of all officers.

Functioned as the top leader, commander, of a 160-man U.S. infantry company. Responsible for the health and welfare, as well as the combat proficiency of all these men. Primary goals as the leader included planning, resourcing, and completing the training of this company for combat. - Responsible for military and civil stability of a geographical area approximately the size of Connecticut and charged with the development of regional economic growth and public government.- Awarded Bronze Star Medal and rated in the top 10% of all captains in the brigade.

Responsible for preparing over 600 soldiers for stability and support operations during a combat deployment to Afghanistan. This involved the training of these soldiers for combat, moving them across international boundaries to get to the training area, acquiring and supplying various materials needed for the intense 45 days of training, and ensuring their individual and unit training progress is tracked and managed. - Responsible for the planning, coordination, and rehearsals of offensive combat operations in Zabol Province, Afghanistan, for the entire 600+-man force. This included integrating unconventional warfare (Special Forces) units, as well as Army aviation and Air Force assets into ground, combat operations.

- Responsible for the preparation, development, and employment of a Special Operations Forces 40-man platoon during a combat deployment to Afghanistan. This required coordination with multiple U.S. government agencies, special missions units, and an embryonic-stage, local Afghan military militia. - Responsible for local and international press integration into combat operations; employment planning for two Tactical Psychological Operations Teams used to induce or reinforce attitudes and behaviors favorable to US objectives; as well as, two Civil-Military Teams intended to work with both military leaders and civilian authorities during the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

- Responsible for the development and training of a 40-man platoon for potential combat operations in South Korea. This force included four South Korean Augmentee soldiers, who helped to provide cultural awareness and knowledge of international laws and agreements.- Responsible for leading and training the “human resources” section of the unit headquarters. These soldiers handled all the personnel and administrative actions associated with a 700-man infantry battalion with a turnover rate of 12% monthly.
