Senior Manager
I was promoted to manage all R&D activities for delivering high-performance Network Simulation products to the telecom industry. Leading a team of 25, as well as 2 additional R&D groups, I worked across departments to prioritize products, built the delivery roadmap, and directed activities for our current product releases. Planning and managing 6-figure and 7-figure budgets, I oversaw customer-facing support for the business unit products, serving as the Product Support Business Process Manager. In this role, as well as in other positions, I was recognized by upper management as a top performer in the organization.I established goals for my team members to improve their efficiency throughout the year, with an emphasis on shifting to an ongoing continuous improvement approach. By opening up communications and setting clear expectations, I drove an improvement in efficiencies and overall team morale.An additional focus was the development and implementation of new processes. In this respect, I played a key part in integrating the SCRUM process within the business unit (major releases increased from 2 to 4 per year), created an agile process to move feature requests from ideas to viable feature descriptions, and established a process to review active engagements (leading to a material decrease in escalations and higher customer satisfaction). Serving as the Product Support Business Process Manager for the business unit, I conducted annual updates and established annual goals, as well as managing the write-up of SR&ED tax credits for the business unit. Among my achievements, I was recognized by senior leadership for my efforts in quickly resolving a precarious relationship with a demanding customer (multimillion-dollar engagement on an unfamiliar product). By expediting our ramp-up on Wireless Core technology, visiting the customer on site and building trust, I maintained the relationship and oversaw the engagement team for two years.Additionally, I assisted our team in resolving a system porting issue by leading the team in a multi-pronged strategy: reviewing the problem; conducting an overall performance evaluation; determining performance profiling on Intel; and expediting a “get time” method to fix the performance issues.Impacting the organization as a member of the Jira Scrum Steering Committee, I provided input that shaped procedures which were ultimately implemented company-wide; additionally, I contributed to Jira’s deployment and broad adoption.
Principal Designer / Product Improvement Lead
During this period, I progressed steadily from a developer to team lead role to management responsibilities. As a Principal Designer, I managed day-to-day operations of the development team and contributed throughout the entire development lifecycle, from planning to rollout. I doubled the capacity and performance for a previously under-performing sipFlex application, collaborating with senior team members to update compiler and facilitate a 30% performance gain.I played a critical part in quickly reducing the number of open tickets by creating an open ticket tracker and standardizing the release process so that all fixes adhered to the same process.I was a primary catalyst for the development of a DevOps pipeline for the business, resulting in quicker status updates for builds and unit tests as well as a reduction in unexpected problems at release time.
Senior Development Engineer
As a Senior Development Engineer, I designed and developed various network test solutions using C++, Java, and PostgreSQL, participating in all facets of the software development lifecycle.
