The role started out as Contract-to-hire from TEK Systems! Success. As I came onboard at Ecolane, I was told the scenario: "Where we are with test automation and where we want to be are completely different stories." Today the agile development team I'm a part of is happily running 2 week sprints, checking off user stories, and keeping up with manual testing. Ontop of that, we're building test automation around the core product (web-based portal for NEMT Agency usage) and public facing mobile apps on iOS and Android. As you may have guessed, Selenium has a seat at the table. CI/CD Pipeline is under construction as well. As per my normal, I found my way into quite a high tech environment around a set of very complex products. Working with a team spread across this half of the country, and also across the Atlantic 'pond' hasn't slowed productivity at all.

SalesPad is a company that has developed a profitable application for managing all aspects of ERP, Warehousing, Inventories, Ordering, Customer Service, etc. I was hired onto one of their software development teams working on customizations on a per-client basis. Their category of software development plays into some of my stronger skills and also provides exposure to some new areas like EDI.

I was hired due to experience with software development, with Automated QA Testing, and with one of Belcan's larger aerospace clients: GE Aviation Systems. Through this position, I do software engineering work for Belcan and its clients (GE Aviation Systems, B/E Aerospace, Caterpillar, etc). Projects have been all over the language spectrum, including C#, embedded C, and Java programming. I've written user applications, hardware tests, CI/CD automated tests, FPGA programs, and simulated models to handle flight data. Experience with waterfall and agile project flow.

As the QA resource, I interfaced between developers and business analysts to ensure proper test planning and execution, as well as detailed documentation all take place during the project life cycle. Technical Writing and Requirements Management come in to play as well as everything you'd expect from a QA Lead role: writing and tracking defects, planning and executing tests for each release, coordinating with the business, third-party vendors, etc.

Some of my work is team-oriented, testing in a lab setting while other work is more Project-based. I wrote tests for the QA Team, performed tests myself, and developed automated tools to reduce the team's workload. Proper documentation and tracking of bugs is obviously key in any QA or Developer position.

D0-178B compliant workplace and policies. I work with Visual Basic, .NET, DOORS Requirements Database Manager, Serena Dimensions Change Management. Also I code a number of my own small tools to effectively reduce workload in some areas for myself and for coworkers.

The Grand Haven, Michigan Public School District wanted to start adding interactive features on the district's website. (Recall that in 2004 most of the sites on the Internet were still quite static, akin to a poster on a wall without any interactive features.) In the interview I explained that I didn't yet know how to accomplish this interactivity, but I'd gladly find out and implement it; they hired me. Shortly afterwards I had an automated weekly poll on the home page, and the beginnings for Sports & Rec Applications, Career Applications. This involved learning ASP Web Programming, implementing database connectivity, and incorporating my small work into the existing HTML & CSS web pages, etc.
