Hello, David here!I am the senior pastor of The Harbor Church which is a place dedicated to help people love fully and live authentically with God and others. It’s a safe, open, transparent family striving to be the harbor to the hurt, stuck, struggling, and disappointed even as we are in the midst of our own personal storms.One such storm happened to me in 2013, When I was diagnosed with a carcinoid in my appendix. The cancer had spread and I eventually had three extensive surgeries. This devastating event and the subsequent long stays in the hospital moved me to begin saying, “Today Is My Favorite Day” just to keep my attitude in check. During my hospital stays I held on to six simple truths that moved me to gaze at God and glance at the cancer. I still say these truths each morning and can say, unequivocally, that my attitude and perspective is in a better place. The following year I wrote a sermon series called, “Today Is My Favorite Day.” Two years later, with the encouragement of my wife, family, and friends I wrote a book on the subject. The project grew, and there is a workbook and a prayer book to go along with the original book. It’s my hope, these books and the vision of The Harbor Church will encourage others who are going through difficult seasons and devastating events, to look up and develop a new appreciation for people and moments God has given them.
