Flexible Body Armor TechnologyConventional body armor is designed to stop projectiles. Unfortunately, conventional body armor transmits blunt force trauma to the wearer. To stop the projectile and to also eliminate fatal blunt force trauma, additional material must be added which equals added weight. Our definition of successful body armor is that it must stop the projectile, blunt force trauma must be non-injurious, and there should be minimal transferred energy to the user and lighter in weight. That is accomplished in using our technology for laterally transferring ballistic energy across the face of the armor and away from the body or object being protected all in a lighter weight package. We believe that body armor must be very light and flexible. We also believe that armor must be comfortable to wear, so our armor does not have to be cinched tightly, it can be equally effective worn loosely. This will minimize the load and allow the user full range of motion even in full body coverage. We have independent third-party testing at Chesapeake Testing proving our 14 ounce per square foot body armor meets NIJ Level 3A (.44 Magnum) requirements. Our testing proved a reduction of blunt force trauma at lower weights and mitigation of energy transferred through the armor to the user. Our current focus is extremely lightweight armor with a very low backface signature. Our current generation armor has been successfully tested up to .50 APM2.

Primary interest is very complex cases, and those that may define new case law.

Spinoff of Science South. Company was awarded a U.S. Army contract for Byron’s Composite Reinforced Ceramic Technology (CRCT) machinegun barrels. Materials utilized include advanced engineering ceramics, self-reinforced thermoplastics, thermoset resins, and advanced composite structures. Byron was “principal Investigator” on 2 DoD projects: Polymer-cased Ammunition and Lightweight Gun Barrels. 3 patents have issued for the ammo, and there remain pending patents for both projects.Byron created technology includes: precision rapid toolmaking for molding polymers or ceramics; alternate materials systems; advanced composite structures; metallizing and coatings, tooling systems. The Byron-designed thermoplastic composite winding machine is considered by the composites industry to be the most technically advanced machine of its type in the world. Also worked on armor systems to protect troops from both kinetic and thermobaric munitions.

With corporate headquarters in Carson, CA, Cosmi is the #1 publisher in productivity software as tracked by NPD Techworld, an independent research company.In 1997 I began writing software for Cosmi through Science South. In Nov. 2002 I became Director of Publishing Administration for Cosmi, with the responsibility of continuing to lead software development teams in the U.S., India and the former Soviet Union. I reported to the President, and was also involved in predicting emerging markets, interfacing with venders, choosing titles, government sales, project planning and working with mass-market retail customers.

Created a start-up plastics manufacturing company in 1991 that evolved into a leading regional injection molding, engineering and moldmaking company. Manufacturing technologies included: design engineering, toolmaking, injection molding, thermoset molding, thermoset composite forming, thermoplastic composite fabrication, assembly and packaging. Invented and led the development of novel patent-pending moldmaking technologies. Added a "paperless" engineering and toolmaking protocol that integrated 3DCAD/CAE/CAM with Quality Assurance and Marketing. This helped the company to earn a high vendor rating and excellent "LEAN" percentage from U.S. government prime contractors. Vintage served a major OEM manufacturer of grips, stocks and other components for US and European firearms manufacturers.
