Responsible for firm’s global fund and client legal relationships. Responsibilities and accomplishments included:-Covering all legal negotiations, fund formation, and product launches and working with the front office and compliance to identify and adapt to continuously evolving regulatory requirements. -Direct line management of ten+ lawyers and six support staff covering trading and client legal work. Scope of management more than doubled in 2016, expanding from trading legal work to fund client legal work.-Departmental planning and budgeting facing-off with internal business functions, including establishment of data driven resource and cost planning used to keep legal and business expectations closely aligned. -Outside counsel relationship selection and management, fee negotiation and ultimate billing approval for all legal work related to client and trading documentation.-Evaluation, procurement and implementation of legal services technology, including multi-year management of project creating and deploying contract terms database used to monitor compliance with standards, increase efficiency and advise senior management and front office.-Recruiting and people management.Transitioned to Senior Consultant (via Elevate Services, Inc.) May 2018:Advised Bridgewater Legal and Regulatory Group management on business process, requirements definition and technology in support of optimization program.

OTC clearing, fixed income derivatives and emerging markets counsel. Represented the firm in clearing initiatives with the CME and ICE and relevant ISDA and FIA industry forums. Legal OTC clearing workstream leader for regulatory comments and implementation of Title VII of Dodd-Frank. Day-to-day responsibilities included structuring, drafting and negotiating documentation for credit, interest rate, foreign exchange and exotic derivatives and structured notes, engaging and supervising U.S. and local counsel and advising on legal, regulatory, credit and reputational risks.

Primary OTC credit derivatives and Latin America derivatives coverage for the Americas region. Represented the firm in drafting of the “Big and Small Bang” Protocols establishing the CDS Determinations Committees and OTC derivatives clearing with ICE and CME for interest rate and credit. Spearheaded ISDA/LSTA creation and evolution of Loan CDS, with extensive exposure to underlying syndicated loan and loan trading legal issues and market practice.Americas legal task force leader for OTC proposed derivatives legislation and regulation, requiring internal coordination of substantive positions with external trade associations, outside regulatory counsel and lobbyists, as well as briefing Congressional member and committee staff. Advised all trading desks globally on the close-out of the Lehman entities across all derivatives products.

Negotiated and drafted derivatives documentation, including interest rate, foreign exchange and equity confirmations, ISDA master agreements, both on a standalone basis and as part of structured transactions. Advised clients on insolvency and commercial law in respect of financial products, including derivatives, repo, securities lending, future transactions and cross-product margining. Other work included SIA response to GSA inquiry as to compliance policies of major dealers in respect of structured transactions with Enron and WorldCom.

-Developed global contacts and mailings database in Access for the International Food Policy Research Institute, December 1997-July 1998. -Developed user interfaces and report building for General Services Administration federal properties databases in Access and Oracle, April-August 1998.
