Currently undertaking the role as a Structural Engineer for SSE (Scottish Hydro), responsible for providing in-house engineering consultancy support for energy development projects and asset management for existing structures.Responsible for the civil/structural engineering aspects of thermal energy operational & maintenance projects at Peterhead Gas Power Station.Particular input on compliance with health, safety and welfare legislation (CDM 2007), risk determination and mitigation.Identifying and procuring contract Works Information, scope determination, project planning, in-house design and detailing and where necessary the management of supporting consultants and contractors.Hydro energy responsibilities include in-house design of structural elements required in the ongoing operation and maintenance works.Involvement in inspection / investigation of recent conduit collapse and design & detailing of structural remedial solution.Undertook a Design Authority role on new wind power projects to ensure technical adequacy and robustness of design in wind turbine foundations and new build thermal power plants.Responsible for jointly researching, developing and writing the company technical design standard for new wind turbine foundations.Jointly developed a risk assessment process and undertook a structural assessment program for the historical wind turbine fleet, in order to inform the company of its current exposure to sub-standard designs & construction.
