About David Cross

Southampton, United KingdomMy research interests come under the broad banner of the changing world of work but in particular, the realm of self-employment. This is in conjunction with investigating workplace commitment, consultants, client relationships, and project network organisations.More recently, my work investigates the link, or lack of one, between the profession and practice of HR and that world of self-employment. I have recently been granted funding by the CIPD to examine this.My research has been published in internationally renowned journals such as Human Resource Management Journal, Organization Studies, and Human Resource Management Review. I sit on the Steering Committee of the Work Futures Research Centre and am a member of the Centre for Research on Work and Organisations. In terms of teaching, I lead two modules at the Undergraduate level; MANG1003 Introduction to Management and MANG1021 Ideas that shape the business world 2: Markets and consumers. I love to combine my teaching and research, and enjoy passing my passion on to engaged students. If you're a former or current student, say 'Hi!' and let me know how you are. • Self-Employed
    Executive Coach
    Self-Employed Sep 2022 - Present
I support executives and senior leaders to think differently about themselves and the world around them. We don't necessarily walk around thinking 'I need some coaching'. Instead, we have goals, beliefs and challenges that manifest in everyday life and which we want to work on. This is where my coaching comes in. - Maybe you want to be more productive, solve problems, or build stronger relationships. - Maybe you feel/know there is a transition coming.- Maybe you feel that something needs to change but you're not sure what or how.- Maybe something doesn't feel right or is frustrating you. - Maybe you just want to step into a space where you'll be listened to unconditionally by someone who won't give you the answer but will support you in figuring it out. If this sounds like you, or someone you know, then get in touch and let's see how we can think differently together.
