As Facilities Manager I was responsible for the full service provision which involved the management of both the security and cleaning teams as well as all third party contractors involved in the running and maintenance of the mall. •Manage the day to day operational activities in line with all health and safety, environmental and company procedures, related general legislation and client/tenant requirements.•Responsible for the full FM provision for the site.•To ensure the agreed planned maintenance programme carried out in accordance with the laid down timetables•To oversee and regularly review the work carried out by contractors to ensure the required standards achieved and maintained in accordance with the contractual agreement•To ensure the fabric of the building both externally and internally is maintained and serviced to a high standard in accordance with the management contract and agreed budgets. •To ensure all on site cleaning and security personnel are trained in accordance with the needs of their roles. •All areas of compliance which includes Asbestos, water hygiene, PAT testing etc. are carried out.•Deputising for Area Manager when required.•Use of Building Management System.

As Facilities Coordinator I was contracted to work for Barclays Wealth, the private and investment arm of Barclays Bank. Due to the nature of the company it was made clear that standards were kept high and a good working relationship with key members of the business was important. I answered to the Facility Manager who over saw various other locations within the UK meaning I had many tasks that were key to the service provided to Barclays, this would include soft and hard services as well as the management of planned and reactive maintenance over the 3 sites within the Glasgow Campus, providing office space for over 2500 staff.

Currie Property Management was started up as a family business with myself and my father. We identified the unhappiness of home owners with their Property Managers/Factors and we believed that we would be able to provide a better service than is the norm. This improvement in service we managed to do and picked up a few contracts. I was in employment while the running the company from home which meant working evenings and weekends. Unfortunately we were unable to grow the business as much as we had hoped and on starting as Facilities Manager for Robinson Services I closed the business. Although the business did not succeed as we had hoped it has provided me with greater understanding of running a business and the numerous challenges business owners face.
