David Elia is Chief Executive Officer of HOSTPLUS - the national industry superannuation Fund for the hospitality, tourism, sports and recreation industry.He's also a Director of leading men’s health not-for-profit charity, The E.J. Whitten Foundation, which is aimed at increasing the awareness of prostate cancer and raising funds for research into the disease. David is also a Director of Fund Executives Association Ltd which is dedicated to supporting the professional development of leaders in the super industry. David’s career spans previous employment with KPMG and SuperPartners Pty Ltd (formerly Jacques Martin Industry). He has extensive business experience in superannuation, finance, marketing, corporate and Fund governance, taxation, risk management, external/internal audit, corporate/strategic planning and implementation. His career is overwhelmed by a raft of management and leadership awards and he possesses a broad range of business and personal skills developed over 20 years in business. He's a qualified chartered accountant and completed his degree in Economics at La Trobe University as well as a Post Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investments from the Financial Services Institute of Australia. He's also a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed various business and management courses at Harvard Business School and Mt Eliza Business School. He's a member of professional associations AIST and ASFA. David is especially interested in what makes organisations tick – from creating an innovative culture to leadership values, strategy and teamwork at all levels.
