Responsible for planning, managing, facilitating and directing the Traffic Technology Branch, which focuses on the development and deployment of technology in five core areas: Digital Infrastructure, Connected & Automated Vehicles, Data Systems & Analysis, Emerging Technologies, and Outreach and Advocacy:-​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Digital Infrastructure consists of fiber optics, wireless radios, network switches, routers and firewalls, CCTV cameras, sensors, servers and storage systems, and connected vehicle equipment to provide communications and systems support for MCDOT and the Maricopa County region. -Connected & Automated Vehicles include the MCDOT SMARTDrive(SM) Program, Automated Vehicle testing and support, and the integration of CAV technologies within the Anthem Test Bed and throughout Maricopa County.-Data Systems & Analysis involves the development and management of various regional data resources including the Regional Archived Data System (RADS), AZTech Regional Information System (ARIS), Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM), Traffic Information for Road Closures (TIRC), and Work Zone Data Exchange (WZDx). -Support the development, testing and implementation of Emerging Technologies through the MCDOT TSMO Lab, piloting equipment deployment in partnership with local agencies throughout the region. -Promotes Outreach and Advocacy by exploring funding and partnership opportunities, providing strategic planning for the AZTech Regional Partnership, participating in industry and professional committees, councils and working groups at all levels and representing MCDOT and the region at industry workshops and conferences.

Responsible for the management and operation of Tempe’s ITS infrastructure, including all hardware, software and communications field assets as well as the servers and systems within the Traffic Management Center. Major systems included TransSuite ATMS, Kimley-Horn Kadence ASCT, GTT EVP, Velocity ARID, Replicam VMS and Luxriot VMS, as well as coordination with other Tempe departments including Police, Fire Medical Rescue and Internal Services (IT). Managed signal timing for many of the City's signalized intersections, with primary responsibility for the predictive priority system operating at all 29 LRT intersections. Developed and managed the initial signal timing and implementation of the EMTRAC TSP system for the 30 Tempe Streetcar intersections. Designed and managed a large number of locally and federally funded CIP/TIP ITS projects which significantly expanded Tempe's ITS capabilities. Actively represented Tempe on the AZTech Operations and Strategic Steering Committees and the MAG ITS Committee, as well as on major regional projects including Loop 101 Mobility and the I-10 Broadway Curve.

Managed several development, integration and implementation projects involving the RHODES Adaptive Signal Control system and MALTA and DynusT Traffic Assignment systems. Responded to RFPs from federal, state and local agencies for continued program funding. Implemented new features in RHODES software, including support for new operating systems and protocols, and maintained RHODES developer code base. Provided technical training and support to RHODES users and research assistants.

Management of all integration and implementation projects of the RHODES Adaptive Signal Control system across North America, as well as many other local, state and federally-funded projects. Ported RHODES from desktop environment to the 2070 Advanced Traffic Controller platform and designed the initial NextPhase communications interface. Other projects included the design and development of RHODES interfaces for multiple micro-simulation packages, the implementation of Transit Signal Priority using real-time GPS data fromSunTran buses, real-time re-routing of passenger vehicles via VMS using train location data and the design and development of a web-based System for the Prediction and Analysis of Real-time Traffic on Arterials.
