About David Falcó Orduna
A passionate and dedicated Aeronautical Engineer specialised in Aerodynamics, currently based in Bristol, UK. I am part of an exciting and innovative team at Vertical Aerospace as an Aerodynamics Engineer. I am contributing to the development of the first electric eVTOL vehicle, the VX4, pioneering electric aviation. My role focuses primarily on the aerodynamic design of the upcoming VX4 aircraft by means of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies as well as conceptual design. I am also involved in supporting aerodynamic tasks for the AC2 aircraft, our current prototype which is undergoing flight testing. I began my career in aviation in 2018 at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona, starting my Bachelor's in Aerospace Technologies. During my studies, I had the opportunity to participate in an Erasmus Programme at Sapienza Università di Roma, in Italy, during six months. In 2022, I embarked on a double-degree Master's programme consisting of a first year in Spain (MSc in Aeronautical Engineering at UPC) and the second year at Cranfield University (MSc in Aerospace Dynamics). At Cranfield, I specialised in Aerodynamics, where I developed my skills in CFD, experimental and theoretical aerodynamics, and aircraft conceptual design with semi-empirical and low order aerodynamic tools employed in industry. During my studies, I successfully collaborated on projects that involved from early conceptual wing design with rapid aerodynamic tools, to validation of wind tunnel experimental data with CFD simulations including hands on experience on wind tunnel and flight testing on Cranfield's Saab 340B. My thesis consisted on a CFD study of the implementation of a surface roughness patch passive control technique on the Common Research Model 3D swept wing at transonic conditions. After my studies, I joined Vertical Aerospace at Bristol, UK.In addition to my academic journey, I gained work experience as an Airworthiness and Maintenance Engineer. I first worked at a pilot school (CESDA) based in Reus Airport, and later at a cargo charter airline (Flightline SL) in Barcelona.I am excited to apply my academic and technical background at Vertical Aerospace where we are making aviation history for a sustainable and cutting edge aircraft. I am always eager to connect with like-minded professionals passionate about aeronautics!

Camo And Part 145 Engineer
Airline Company specialised in cargo chartered flights throughout Europe with a fleet of five Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner SA227 and SA226.Key responsibilities included:• Generating comprehensive Work Order Packages for aircraft maintenance tasks, managing a fleet with a significant annual flying hour rate of 1000 FH/year and dynamic maintenance phases due to charter operations.• Analyzing and verifying technical documentation and Airworthiness Directives from manufacturers, FAA, and EASA. This involved reviewing critical manuals such as Aircraft Maintenance Manual, Inspection Phase Manual, Illustrated Parts Catalog, and Engine Maintenance Manual to ensure mechanics worked with updated information and complied with all relevant directives.• Collaborating with the lead engineer to review aircraft post-maintenance, verifying results of ground test runs or flight tests, and ensuring accurate part installations. Generated Certificates of Releases to Service to certify the completion of maintenance tasks.• Analyzing Weight & Balance reports, assessing data from mechanics, and calculating corrected center of gravity for the aircraft to ensure optimal performance and safety.• Ensuring real-time updates of aircraft status by daily review of technical logbooks provided by pilots, maintaining an accurate and up-to-date record of the fleet's technical history. This experience equipped me with a holistic understanding of aircraft maintenance procedures, regulatory compliance, and the intricate details involved in managing a dynamic fleet.
Aldora Project Aerodynamics Engineer
Participated at the Aldora Project as an Aerodynamics Engineer contributing to the design of a subsonic light aircraft by designing the wing and empennage using basic aerodynamics analysis software (XFLR 5) and firstly experiencing CFD simulations together with tutoring new and younger members of the department
Assistance Engineer At Cesda
Pilot University based at Reus Airport. Worked in a dedicated Maintenance hangar and CAMO Office that operated a fleet of DA20, DA42, and PA28 aircraft. In this early-stage role, I functioned more as an apprentice, gaining valuable insights into the intricacies of aircraft maintenance.Key responsibilities included:• Assisting engineers and mechanics in various aspects of aircraft maintenance, such as conducting engine ground tests, instrument calibration, and reviewing work order packages.• Acquiring foundational knowledge of CAMO (Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization) and Part 145 regulations through hands-on assistance tasks provided to the lead engineer. This experience not only deepened my understanding of aircraft maintenance procedures but also exposed me to the essential elements of CAMO and regulatory compliance in the aviation industry.
