I've had the opportunity to experience many facets of business through employment and consulting. As move past the 40 year milestone of building my own brand, the future just looks brighter and brighter every day. Imagine travelling the world, meeting wonderful people and earning a passive income. That’s where I am at now. I walked straight into a job with the Commonwealth Bank on an early offer after high school. Fast forward 7 years and I hit the fast track, rotated through every conceivable facet of banking and corporate management, culminating in leading a Commercial Lending Division with 20+ staff and a rapidly growing loan book.Although 20 years in banking taught me a lot, I yearned for the flexibility of being my own boss, so with a stay at home mum, two primary school kids and mortgage to support I started my consulting business.Unfortunately, I was missing the fundamental element of financial security - residual or passive income.In 2012 I had the opportunity to purchase a manufacturing business with a friend. He was the hands on and, as the coach, I was the CFO and BDM. Six months in and tragedy struck, and he passed away. My response, I bought another business, merged the two, applied the lessons I taught my clients and today control a small but thriving machinery business that operates in a niche market throughout Australia. www.unimec.com.auAll the time I continued coaching with a good mix of professional and small business clients; but the passive and residual income still eluded me.Another tragedy on Father’s Day 2016, this time it was me, I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke (a bleed on the brain) that I survived. It was a difficult diagnosis to determine the cause and it put me out of action for almost 2 years; now that really gets you thinking about life, mortality, passive and residual income.Fast forward to now and I have turned right around. Unimec is still soldiering on, I am still coaching but in a different way. Now my focus is on coaching and mentoring others on a journey to perpetual residual incomes. I find I empower people through helping them establish their 'own business' without sacrificing what they currently do.
