Since May of 2019, I have done seasonal work with the Air Conditioning repair and maintenance company MB Tech Inc. I was part of a culturally diverse group of workers and frequently used my fluent Spanish language skills to facilitate dialogue between my employer and the customer. I entered the position with no experience in the field, and had little issue in learning the relevant terminology, procedure, and job functions. My work in this field has taken me across various counties and cities in the Metro Atlanta area, as the job requires on-site work. My most recent work with the company was in Summer of 2023.

While completing my degree at the University of Georgia, I worked in the fast-paced and customer-focused food service industry. Much of my work was customer-facing, and I interacted with the customers for hours at a time. This job helped to regulate my personal stress levels in high-intensity periods of work, such as when there was a lunch or dinner rush, or when we were out of a particular ingredient. Because of the nature of the service industry, the skills of time-management, working quickly, and, most importantly, being precise were crucial for success. Furthermore, this position strengthened my ability to connect with a customer. Although there were moments on the job where I worked behind the scenes, I greatly preferred my experience when interacting with the customers. This job also further strengthened my already substantial ability to remain optimistic, professional, and jovial when confronted with aggression, disinterest, disrespect, or other issues when dealing with problematic customers.

I was employed by the City of Alpharetta's Department of Recreation and Parks at North Park. The general responsibilities of the position involved regular upkeep and maintenance of the park grounds and facilities, frequent inspection of the property, interaction and information for the visitors of the park when needed (including campers, counselors, athletes, children, and parents), and developing efficient strategies to approach longer or more complicated projects (such as installation of new mulch or pine straw on a park-wide basis, installation of a new flagpole, means by which to protect the property after hours, etc.). As the park generally specialized in softball, being home to about half a dozen softball fields, as well as other regular athletic installations such as tennis courts and turf fields, there were occasional tournaments on the premises for which our roles became crucial. In the limited minutes between games, the team would enter the field, remake it as though it were new, and go to the next field once we had concluded our work on the previous one. This experience greatly strengthened my ability to carry out a specific function in a short period of time and be part of a team.
